What is “holistic voice teaching”?

Certain types of vocal training take a toll on a person's voice, often stifling your true self. As someone who has had her voice muted by insensitive and abusive teachers, I understand this wholeheartedly. One of the worst sentences someone can say to another is, "You can't sing." I'm here to tell you: you can. Everyone has at least one incredible karaoke song within them, and I'm here to help you find it!

In New York, I have trained with the same teachers who have taught everyone’s favorite pop artists (MJ, Gaga, Xtina, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, & Celine Dion to name a few!) With my classical background and my musical theater/pop belt training, I teach an integrated approach that combines breath work, excellent technique, support, and most importantly, your own unique voice.

Specialities include:

  • the elusive “mix voice”

  • pop belt technique

  • head voice/falsetto

  • increasing vocal range and stability

  • improving pitch and tone

  • vibrato

  • rehabilitative vocal care

  • choosing the music that best suits you

  • neurodivergent individuals

Whether you are a longtime singer who feels “stuck” or a beginner who has always wanted to learn to sing, I would be thrilled to meet you where your needs are.

Singing difficulties often stem from emotional blocks. As a board certified music therapist I am able to recognize how these blocks might be interfering with the expression of your true voice. In lessons, we will identify what might be holding you back emotionally and physically as a singer; always with honesty, kindness and respect. I guarantee you will leave lessons feeling more confident and supported as an artist.
